Cushing's Syndrome in a Goat

Smidgen was very ill and had lost most of her hair at the time this picture was taken in 1985. As it turned out, she had adenocarcinoma and eventually died of a ruptured adrenal gland. We treated her in various ways and fought for an answer for 18 months, after I noticed bilaterally symmetrical hair loss over her shoulders. She was 9 months old at the first sign of hair loss. She went on to kid with twins and triplets and died just as the vet and I suspected her problem was Cushing's Syndrome. You can see how miserable she looks.
